it’s a pretty awesome thing to watch a couple experience life together – from high school sweet hearts, to college, then planning a wedding and getting married… and now watching them as they prepare for their little man. i feel so lucky to be able to document this time for matt and emily – not only because emily is this gorgeous mama-to-be (matt – you’re pretty handsome too 😉 )… but because they are family. when i first met matt over ten years ago he was this little high school kid… and now in what feels like the blink of an eye, he’s about to be a dad! their little guy is going to be beyond loved by these two and their families – and can i just say that he is going to be SUPER loved by his big cousins (well cousins a few times removed or second cousins.. or whatever they are!) who happen to be completely obsessed with babies. it was pretty rainy the day we planned for their maternity portraits (but then really what day this summer hasn’t been rainy….)… we started our session inside snuggled up on their bed and then we went outside where the sun decided to come out for the most perfect sunset in their backyard. 
can you guys believe he is going to be here in just a few weeks??!

oh wait… it appears i had a little helper! throughout most of the session he was running back and forth yelling behind me… i’m not really sure how em and matt were able to stay so in tune with each other through that but it was pretty magical!
i love the picket fence in their front yard… its makes their yard feel so secluded and gives this magical secret garden feel
