as we embark on some pretty big life changes i’m again reminded of the importance of photographs. we are going to be moving soon… leaving the house my husband and i first lived in together, where we were when we got married, had two children… lots of big memories were made there… i am so thankful for the thousands of photographs we have of our growing family in our home… now i know that looking back i can not only remember my kids being little, but i can remember them being little in that house.. all the little things – from the loud radiators (and their beautifully custom designed covers made by my uber-talented husband), to the squeaky stairs, and the wonderfully warm kids bedrooms and their awesome big windows letting in morning and afternoon light. this is why i think in home sessions are important. your home is a part of your story – whether you love it or hate it… its there. its important to remember how you were back in the day, but also WHERE you were. i never want to forget the little things about this house – like the beautiful exposed brick in our kitchen and upstairs bathroom to the raised garden we built in the backyard and everything in between. this is why i wanted to photograph kendell and cody in their home – because at some point…. they are going to move.. and its so important that they remember where it all began – especially when you have decorating skills as amazing as kendell’s (i think she might need to help me in my new house!!! 😉 )
in home couples sessions are comfortable, they are authentically you… they are real. i encourage couples to think of things they like to do – whether that be sitting on the couch drinking coffee or doing push ups together in the kitchen!!! whatever you do at home is what should be captured.
thanks kendell and cody for inviting me into your super unique home to capture some real, mushy love moments between the two of you 😉
