whats all the fuss about a fresh 48 session? who really wants to have photos taken literally hours after giving birth?? i’m here to tell you that you do. you may not believe me right now.. but you do. in 20 years when you flip back on these images (heck in ONE year!!!) you are not going to look at yourself and how tired you looked… you are going to remember the MIRACLE that you helped create over the prior nine months.
there is nothing like a fresh newborn.
it isnt describable. their wrinkly skin and fingers, soft nails, fuzzy hair and oh so perfect nose and ears. even their hairy ears and back are just snuggable! these things go away SO fast. they become chunky infants so fast. the newborn time is fleeting and so amazing to look back on. the best way to remember it is to freeze those moments – the sweet smell of my newborn can be brought to mind when i look at their hospital photos and i would give anything to have even more of that.
meeting the siblings.
my absolute favorite part about fresh 48 sessions is that its often the very FIRST time the siblings get to meet the baby. as the photographer to be invited into this moment is absolutely humbling and i am so thankful for that. as a mom… it’s a little bit different… its when your heart – that you thought couldn’t get any bigger… grows a little bit more and invites this extra little human into your life… and somehow.. you just love them all the same. and then your WHOLE heart is there.. meeting each other and snuggling all at one time… they are priceless, irreplaceable memories.
the new definition of family.
these moments, the first few days as a family… they are the ones that will go by faster than you can think… they are the ones you’ll forget because you are living in a state of exhaustion… and they are the ones that you want to live on forever. i love flipping back on my children’s newborn photos and telling them about the day they were born.. how our lives were turned upside down and now we can’t imagine life without them. our photographs become our legacy, our stories put into print… what could compare with that?
