My Top THREE Favorite Portrait Locations; Saratoga Photographer

it’s always fun to explore new locations for portrait sessions, but I’ll always have my favorites.  As we are rapidly nearing fall family portrait season I thought I’d share a few of a my favorite spots.  I’d love to get a few new spots on my go-to list so if you have new ideas let me know below… Anyone who knows me also knows that the spot I think is the best for you and your family – is the one that has meaning to you… whether that is a baseball field in a local park, the master bedroom in your home with everyone snuggled up or your driveway… each of those spots is beautiful in their very own way – and when you add in your beautiful loving family – they are perfection.  So here’s my three favorite spots – all with VERY different feels to them!

1. Wildhaven Farm

this is it.. its my spot.  the LKP exclusive location thanks to my fabulous sister who purchased the property a few years ago.  There are beautiful grassy fields with the most gorgeous sunsets behind the trees, a long gravel driveway, old red barns (chickens too!!!), ponds and creeks… all at one spot! it’s seriously beautiful in every weather – but I especially love spring and fall – when everything is starting to bloom and when all the trees are changing color.  and… i’m lucky enough to be the only photographer allowed to photograph there 🙂

2. YOUR HOME!

i love love love in home sessions!!!!! often with spring in home sessions we’ll start inside then venture into the yard to have some fun.  i hear so many people say that their house isn’t good for photographs and it’s not bright enough.  but let me just tell you – your house is your story.  you are your story… and it deserves to be told.  imagine your family looking back after you’ve moved out of that house and remembering all the memories they made – they can remember that brown rug you had in the office, or the time when the entire box of cheerios dumped on the kitchen floor.  photographs tell stories, and your home is part of your story.  so live it – and tell it.

3. Downtown Schenectady

some of you may know that I have a small studio space in Schenectady.  this little spot is super urban with a really cool feel (and a brand new barnwood wall which makes it feel a little bit more rustic!).  I love this space for a couple reasons – I’m still able to keep the comfy lifestyle feel (as long as you’re willing to play along with some of my goofiness for the kids!!!)… and then we can head outside to Jay street!! Jay street is my favorite spot in Schenectady – with some really eclectic shops and its cobblestone walkway I love the variety in architecture it offers… From ice cream shops to coffee shops and juice bars – theres a spot for everyone to stop in for a treat… and to top it off… theres one really awesome semi-covered walkway that I LOVE to photography people in.

So there you have it – my three favorite locations… where are we scheduling your next session for? Fall portrait season is coming quick… and I’m already booking into November – I can’t wait to get your family on my calendar!
